LAX Airport parking options

Upon arrival at LAX, travelers can leave their vehicles at one of the short-stay or LAX long-term parking lots based in the airport territory. Official LAX park facilities include economy parking, the Central Terminal Area (CTA) premium lot, valet, cell phone parking, a new EV Smart spot, as well as a motorcycle and bicycle park. Passengers can benefit from offers on special programs and hotel packages.

LAX Economy parking

LAX Economy parking offers 4000 spaces with 305 chargers for electric vehicles (more EV charging stations are available soon). The car stationing is allowed for prolonged stays and LAX parking overnight trips. To reach Economy lots, head to 6100 W. 94th Street, CA, 90045.

Please keep in mind that all persons (including those with disabilities) who pass through a gate arm into the parking facility are obliged to pay the established fee.

LAX provides a free shuttle transfer to/from the Economy Parking structure operating 24/7 every 7-10 min. The trip to the airport building takes an average of 15 min. To hop on a shuttle, move to the ground level of the parking structure and follow the signs to the pick-up zone. Shuttles drop off travelers at all LAX terminals on the ground floor (Arrivals zone). Upon returning to your vehicle, follow the pink signs on the inside curb on the ground floor (outside of luggage reclaim) to take a shuttle bus.

The LAX Economy Park levels are marked with vertical clearances. Each floor imposes restrictions on the vehicle height:

  • Level 1 permits parking cars under the height of 14 ft (4 m 26 cm).
  • Levels 2, 3, and 4 set a vehicle height limit of 8 ft and 1 inch (2 m 46 cm).

If you intend to leave your vehicle for more than 30 days, please request an extension over the limit by contacting ABM Parking at LAX directly at 310-646-2911. Otherwise, your car will be subject to impoundment at the owner's expense.

Prices of Economy parking at LAX

According to Drive-up General Parking rates, established on 11/14/2022, the cost of Economy park at LAX is the following:

  • The first hour or a part of an hour's stay is priced at $8.
  • Each next 30 min will cost drivers $7.
  • The maximum fee set for each 24-hour period is $35.

Central Terminal Area parking (CTA)

CTA is the official LAX premium park facility conveniently situated just across the passenger terminals. There are eight parking zones with more than 7 000 spaces available for guests. Moreover, this structure is designed for both short- and long-term parking at LAX as well as for picking up and dropping off passengers. Please note that all cars accessing the Central Terminal Area are subject to random inspection.

Upon passing through a gate arm into a parking lot, all drivers, including persons with disabilities, are charged the posted parking fees. Those travelers, who would like to leave their vehicles over 30 days, should ask for a stationing extension by calling 310-646-2911. To reach the CTA structure, look for the clearly marked CTA entrances with vertical clearances.

Be aware that premium park lots have certain height restrictions:

  • CTA Structures 1, 3, and 4 set a vehicle height restriction of 7 ft and 6 inches (2 m 28 cm).
  • Facility 2A allows parking vehicles under 8 ft (2 m 44 cm) in height only.
  • Park Structure 2B established a vehicle height restriction of 6 ft and 10 inches (2 m 8 cm).
  • LAX Parking Lots 5 and 7 let passengers leave cars less than 7 ft (2 m 13 cm) in height.
  • Facility 6 set a maximum vehicle height limit of 8 ft and 2 inches (2 m 49 cm).

Cell Phone parking lot

A 24-hour LAX Cell Phone Waiting facility is designed for those motorists who are waiting for arriving passengers at LAX. At this structure, drivers can stay for free, up to two hours, until passengers notify them by calling that they are ready to be picked up in the Central Terminal Area.

The Cell Phone Park is based on the Northwest corner of 96th Street/Vicksburg Avenue, 400 m west of the 96th Street Bridge entrance into the LAX passenger terminal zone, next to the city bus center. Drivers can easily reach the Cell Phone spot from the north and east using La Tijera, Sepulveda, Manchester, and Century Boulevards.

Please note that any commercial vehicles or ride-service cars are not allowed in the facility. Vehicles in the Cell Phone Waiting garage must be attended to at all times.

Since 2019, the shuttle service at the Cell Phone Waiting Lot is no longer operating. So, travelers should take LAX City Bus Center Bus Bays 11 and 12 to get to the airport premise.

Pick-ups and drop-offs

Dropping off a passenger

Entry to LAX is currently closed to all except travelers with valid tickets, airport personnel, and persons assisting ticketed passengers. The restriction was imposed with the purpose to ensure safety during the COVID pandemic. So, if you are intending to drop off family or friends from LAX, the best way to do it is at the terminal building on the Upper floor (Departures zone).

Picking up a passenger

Travelers arriving at Los Angeles Airport can proceed to the outer curb on the lower level (Arrival zone outside of the luggage reclaim hall) for picking up.

Drivers who are planning to pick up passengers from LAX are able to use the service of a 24-hour Cell Phone Waiting Airport parking in Los Angeles for free (up to two hours). It is a special area designed for waiting until your relatives/friends/colleagues call to notify you that they are ready to be picked up.

There is also a Terminal B Pickup location based on the lower floor of P3 next to Tom Bradley International. This location serves to unload the congested roadway and bypass the busy curb where the construction temporarily decreased the available space.

Motorbike and bicycle parking

Owners of motorcycles can park their vehicles for free in all General Parking and Premium lots inside the Central Terminal Area structures. Free parking in the Valet facility is not permitted. Upon reaching parking at LAX, drive around the entrance gate arm without taking a ticket. A motorbike is allowed to park at the ends of rows, in corners, or other spaces if it does not block access to parked vehicles, places and paths for disabled persons, Smarte Carte machines, passenger or auto traffic, as well as the doors, elevators, driveways, etc. Do not leave a motorbike in a space designed for a car. Please keep in mind that all parking violations will be issued to all offenders.

Entering/exiting a parking lot via a sidewalk is prohibited. The governing body for Los Angeles Airport is not responsible for any damage or loss of motorcycles parked in any CTA lot.

Those arriving at LAX by bicycle can park in several zones within the CTA:

  • Outside Parking Structure 3
  • South of Bradley terminal entrance
  • Parking Structure 6 on Level 1
  • The corner of Sky Way and World Way.

The detailed LAX parking map with available parking options for motorcycles and bikes can be found below:

LAX employee parking

Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) provide LAX employees, who have a critical business need for immediate and direct access to the CTA, with complimentary and discounted parking. As a part of the Employee Parking Pass Program (EPP), special spaces in Parking Garages 1, 2A, 2B, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 were allocated for LAX employees. All other revenue-generating structures such as LAX Economy Parking, Lots East, and West, etc., are not entitled to offer free park options unless authorized under agreement with the LAX governing body.

Special parking programs

Car-stay for events

Special events hosted by the LAX authority for the airport personnel and their families are eligible to receive validated spaces at LAX parking structures. The validation needs to be approved ahead of time by the Chief Executive Officer, or designee.

Managers of non-LAWA-sponsored special events (airlines, concessionaires, etc.) may request validation vouchers at the established parking LAX parking rates. Once the event is over and all parking surcharges are accounted for, the payment for stationing can be realized. Please note that it is obligatory to provide a valid credit card before receiving the validation vouchers.

Upon arrival at LAX, guests will receive a pre-validated '‎visitor ticket'‎ signed by the event sponsor instead of a validation stamp. Visitors will be asked to take a regular ticket upon entering the garage and provide it to the event sponsor in exchange for a '‎visitor ticket'‎ for further validation upon leaving the parking facility.

Event sponsors can request guest tickets by filling out and submitting a Special Event Parking Form to the LAWA Parking Services office. A manager must issue tickets for visitors only in exchange for a regular parking pass. The tickets are valid only once and can be used in any LAX parking facility. At the end of the event, sponsors have to return collected parking passes and extra guest tickets to Sharon Loville, LAWA Los Angeles Airport Parking Services Office.
