What to do after arrival at Los Angeles LAX Airport?

There are several essential things to think about upon arrival at the airport: the best way to get to the hotel or city, an affordable accommodation option, and getting local currency as well. LAX provides travelers with various transportation means to reach famous tourist spots such as Universal Studios, Hollywood, Disneyland, The Getty Center, Malibu, Santa Monica Beach, etc. If you are a solo tourist traveling light, you may consider public transfers. Transfers include the L.A. Metro C line, City bus lines, Big Blue bus, and Beach Cities Transit.

The City of Flowers is one of the most popular destinations in the world. So, to guarantee yourself suitable accommodation at affordable prices, book a hotel near LAX ahead of time.

Do not forget to exchange your home currency for U.S. dollars. You can do it in one of the available kiosks, offices, banks, or ATMs situated at the LAX Airport arrivals zone.

FAQs about Los Angeles International Airport arrivals

How do I pick up international arrivals at LAX?

Travelers arriving at the Los Angeles Airport may be picked up on the outer curb. It is situated on the lower floor (Arrivals hall) outside of the luggage reclaim area. Drivers who intend to pick up passengers have at their disposal the LAX Cell Phone Waiting Lot operating 24/7. This spot is designed for motorists meeting arriving passengers. Drivers can wait for up to 2 hours for free until travelers call to say they are ready to be picked up.

LAX guests can also use the Terminal B pickup zone placed on the lower floor of the P3 structure (next to the Tom Bradley International Terminal). This facility serves to unload the congested roadway and bypass the busy curb where the construction temporarily decreased the available space. Terminal B Pickup zone can be used for free.

Does LAX require a Covid test upon arrival?

As of June 2022, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention no longer demands foreign travelers at Los Angeles Airport arrivals to present a negative COVID-19 viral test or proof of recovery before they board the plane. Since March 2023, CDC has waived mentioned requirements for air passengers from China, Hong Kong, or Macau.

Please keep in mind that all non-U.S. citizens and immigrants traveling to the US by plane are obliged to present proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

For more up-to-date info regarding travel requirements and COVID demands, check the CDC website and contact your airline.

Are arrivals top or bottom LAX?

LAX facilities are built in a U-shaped form, with a two-level road and the airport parking lots situated inside of the 'U' and all of the terminals, respectively, on the outside. Travelers depart from the upper floor, while Los Angeles Intl Airport arrivals can be found on the lower level. Check the detailed LAX map to better navigate among the airdrome amenities.

How many arrival terminals does LAX have?

The Los Angeles Airport premise consists of nine passenger terminals including the Tom Bradley International Terminal building (known as Terminal TBIT). All facilities are connected via a double-level roadway. On the LAX map, the airport premise looks like the 'U' letter. Tom Bradley and Terminals 4-8 are conveniently connected by the walkway. Thus, travelers are enabled to access the Los Angeles arrivals zones and all the above-mentioned structures without passing through a re-clear safety point.

Can I fly with my dog to California?

If you plan to travel to Los Angeles with your pet, get acquainted with the pet import rules and requirements set by the California Department of Food and Agriculture. El Dorado allows passengers to transport cats and dogs on board (either in-cabin, as accompanied baggage, or as cargo). In this case, the pet will be charged accordingly.

Do not forget to prepare the necessary documents and health certificate for the animal confirming it is healthy and fit to fly. You must also provide proof of the current rabies vaccine which is required for dogs over four months of age and recommended for cats.

Please check the demands of your airline regarding shipping the pet in cargo or carry-on luggage in advance.
